St Peter's Collaborate with Artizan International
Back in June and July of last year St Peter's pupils in Year Six designed three mosaics to showcase their school vision and then worked with the Artizan group from Harrogate to bring their designs to life.
Artizan International enables, empowers and supports people with disabilities to meet their full potential through therapeutic craft activities and social enterprise in the UK and the developing world. Their vision is to create a world where disabled people are welcomed, valued and respected as creative contributors to their community and given equal opportunities to their peers. UK specific: Social isolation is decreased, confidence and wellbeing are increased, bridges are built and negative attitudes are positively transformed.
They are thrilled to unveil the three stunning new mosaics that now brighten our school hall, each one beautifully representing a core part of our school vision: Love, Learn, Shine.
Created with the help of our talented children, staff and volunteers these mosaics are more than just artwork—they are a celebration of who we are as a school community. Each piece reflects our vision which we work on living out each day:
- Love – showing kindness, respect, and care for one another.
- Learn – embracing curiosity, growth, and a love of learning.
- Shine – encouraging every child to be confident, proud, and to let their light shine.
The mosaic project has been a wonderful opportunity for children to work collaboratively, express their creativity, and take pride in something that will be part of our school for years to come.
Staff at St Peter's would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this vision to life - from the artists who guided the process to the children whose ideas and hands shaped each tile. These mosaics now stand as a lasting symbol of our shared vision and the vibrant spirit of our school.
Having sorted the logistics of how to hang these wonderful but heavy pieces we are delighted that they are now on display for all to see in the lower hall. Come and see them for yourself - they’re a true reflection of our vision: Love, Learn, Shine.
