Safeguarding and attendance
Safeguarding
Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust is fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff in school. These are monitored regularly through a series of audits and reviews.
We ensure that all staff, volunteers and governors receive appropriate training, guidance and support to undertake the effective safeguarding of children and are confident to respond to incidents or concerns.
Through the PSHE curriculum we teach our pupils about safeguarding, so they know how to keep themselves safe and reduce risks and access the support they need to thrive in school.
We have effective systems to identify pupils who may be at risk from harm and have trained members of staff to provide help for children and families when they need it, working closely with local services.
Our established Designated Safeguarding Lead Network, led by the Safeguarding Lead support the DSLs to access specialist training, advice and supervision. The Safeguarding Lead role expands our strategic links with statutory agencies and organisations ensuring we are up to date with the research and best practice.
Attendance
Regular school attendance is crucial because it significantly impacts a student's academic success, social development, and overall well-being. Research shows a strong link between attendance and attainment, with students who attend school consistently achieving better grades. School provides a vital environment for social interaction, the development of friendships, and the building of important life skills. Regular attendance contributes to a more positive and supportive school environment where students feel valued and connected.
Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust monitors attendance data closely and provides support and advice for school leaders.
