Inclusion
Our Trust mission statement says:
The curriculum is planned thoughtfully, providing a rich, broad learning experience that enables students to flourish in the future. All students are known, supported, and challenged appropriately. There are high expectations of all students, regardless of starting points or situation. Value is placed on the process of learning itself, regardless of outcome.
We involve parents and children in key decisions, as well as planning and reviewing progress; we know that parents are the first educators of their child and that we need their knowledge and co-operation to co-produce plans for provision effectively. We are honest about challenges and timescales, focusing on effective provision rather than assumptions about future progress.
Teachers, teaching assistants and subject leaders have responsibilities for the curriculum and progress of all children, including those with SEND. Teachers have the same responsibilities for all children to assess the effectiveness of provision and facilitate progress.
The SENCO/ learning support team supports the key person/teacher in the assessment of pupils’ strengths and weaknesses, in problem solving and advising on the effective implementation of support.
Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust fosters collaboration between SENCOs through regular network meetings, sharing successful initiatives and providing mutual support. All teaching staff receive training and professional development with a focus on creating inclusive learning environments.
