St. Aidan’s Celebrate the top GCSE Results in North Yorkshire

On 5th December, St. Aidan’s Church of England Secondary School received confirmation that their most recent GCSE results were the highest they have ever had!

Students achieved a progress score of 0.72, a result shared with the selective school Ripon Grammar – making them the joint highest achieving school for Progress 8 in North Yorkshire and the highest achieving non-selective school.  Progress 8 measures the amount of progress a student makes from their SATs in Year 6 to their GCSE grades at the end of Year 11 and the National average is 0 which puts into perspective what an achievement this score is.

Other results headlines included that the percentage of students achieving a grade 5 or above in Maths and English was 73.1% - the highest for a non-selective school in North Yorkshire. The Attainment 8 score was also joint top for a non-selective school in North Yorkshire at 57.9.

These results are incredible and are testament to the high-quality teaching that our students have received, the exemplary pastoral support both inside school and at home and of course the hard work and dedication of the students. Congratulations to all who contributed in any way.
